The Clyde Jumpsuit by Elizabeth Suzann

Jared and I moved to Nashville from Boston in July 2014, nearly ten years ago. While living in Boston, I learned of Nashville-based Elizabeth Suzann, who was currently designing and producing in her studio on Church Street. As we pursued our move, I thought to myself, “I will be in the same city as my favorite designer!”

As you may know, I have been a committed customer, employee, and friend from the very beginning. Elizabeth Suzann has earned and nurtured my trust in dynamic ways, and I am here to stay. As I evolve as a woman, partner, mother, and consumer, my admiration of Elizabeth Suzann remains consistent and true. As my self-expression, style, and wardrobe evolve, the safety I feel when clothed in Elizabeth Suzann remains consistent and true.

My first-ever Elizabeth Suzann garment was the Linn Sweater. I felt esteemed, grown up, and genuinely beautiful in this sweater. I began to add pieces over time: the Florence Pant, Georgia Tee, Long Sleeve Harper Tunic, Cocoon Coat, Clyde Jumpsuit, and many more. I have seen each style—rooted in reverence for functional, enlivening design—become fine-tuned over time, deepening my sense of familiarity and identity with every piece.

Recently, I have strongly identified with the Clyde Jumpsuit in Black Midweight Linen. Wearing this jumpsuit reminds me of the importance of letting my belly just be from time to time, free to expand and fold and twist without the pressure of a waistband. It’s interesting; I feel the weight of this jumpsuit on my shoulders, where it rests, but I feel the freedom of this jumpsuit around my belly. I often prefer the structure and cinch of a waistband, but lately, I wake up desperate for this freedom, this breathe-as-expansively-as-I-can, eat-as-much-as-I-want-with-no-waistband-tightness freedom. And, when I do, I reach for my soft, lightweight, spacious Clyde Jumpsuit.

I often style my Clyde Jumpsuit with warm turtlenecks this time of year. A few favorites include:

  1. Cotton Turtleneck Sweater by J.Crew

  2. Emma Cashmere Sweater by Club Monaco

  3. Julianna Rib Cotton-Cashmere Sleeveless Turtleneck by Club Monaco

  4. Oslo Turtleneck by Dôen

  5. Journee Sweater by Dôen

  6. Kavala Sweater by Dôen

  7. Rib Mockneck by Lauren Manoogian

I also feel inspired to style my Clyde Jumpsuit with a scarf in a variety of ways after reading Leandra Medine Cohen’s recent Substack post, How to Make the Most of Your Winter Accessories: Part 1, and Instagram post. I have my eyes on the following:

  1. Mongolian Cashmere Wrap by Quince

  2. Marianne Scarf by Sézane

  3. Oversized Cashmere Wrap by J.Crew

  4. Ribbed Scarf by Jenni Kayne

  5. Herringbone Cashmere Scarf by Vince

  6. Pebble Fringed Cashmere Scarf by Chan Luu

Finally, an oversized denim jacket would bring any look above to the next level. I often wear my vintage Trucker Jacket by Levi’s and Rhy Denim Jacket by Anine Bing.

Above and below, I am wearing the Clyde Jumpsuit by Elizabeth Suzann in Black Midweight Linen. Pre-orders close this evening.
