Los Cabos, Mexico
My family and I returned from Los Cabos, Mexico exactly one week ago, and already, I’m planning our next visit. In all honesty, Cabo was not a top-of-mind travel destination for me. My sister, Sarah, spearheaded the planning for this trip. I was so excited to travel with Sarah and her family, but at first, this trip felt more like an along-for-the-ride trip. However, once we were there, I said several times, “I cannot believe Cabo was not at the top of my personal travel list.” I loved—loved—our time in Cabo. It’s a place I hope to visit many times in the future—with Jared, our family, and for a future girls' trip. Humpback whales, as well as gray whales and orcas, migrate to the Los Cabos area to breed between October and April, and I plan to align our next trip with their migration season. Specifically, January through April is considered ‘high season’ for whale migration.
Our families flew directly from Nashville, Tennessee to Los Cabos, Mexico on Southwest, which made the travel day with young children more manageable than anticipated. Our hotel was a short drive from the airport, and when we arrived, our travel day felt so very worth it. We arranged pick-up and drop-off to and from the airport through our hotel.
Below you will find imagery of our time in Cabo, as well as our experience-based recommendations. A separate blog post highlighting our time at Flora Farms is coming soon.
Recommended Eats
Acre | I was so taken aback by this captivating, beautiful property. This will be one of the first reservations I make when we return.
Flora Farms | Flora Farms immediately expanded my vision for Wiley Canning Company. We went twice during our week-long stay in Cabo: once for breakfast and once for drinks and exploration before our dinner reservation at Acre. Flora Farms and Acre are about five minutes apart. We used Uber to take us from Flora Farms to Acre, as opposed to walking, because each are situated on a hilly, unpaved road that stirs up lots of dust.
The Office | The Office is an absolute must. We drove from our hotel to The Office, had lunch, and boarded a water taxi directly from The Office to see El Arco. I highly recommend this approach, as opposed to boarding a water taxi at a nearby marina.
Recommended Stay
Zadún | As I mentioned above, my sister, Sarah, led the planning of our trip. Thanks to a generous stockpile of Marriott points, she booked our stay at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, entirely on points.
Recommended Sites
El Arco | We nearly missed El Arco, hesitant about how kid-friendly the experience would be. Because we boarded a water taxi at The Office, it ultimately felt very approachable, and I cannot imagine having missed it. During the hour-long ride, we saw dozens of jumping manta rays—an unforgettable surprise that made the outing feel even more magical, particularly for Sullivan.
