Family Travel with STATE: Part 01
Traveling with Sullivan and Ellis is a conscious pursuit. It requires endless patience, careful planning, and a clear sense of our long-term vision for our sons. The logistics are often layered, and routines get disrupted. I often say, “Traveling with Sullivan and Ellis is a high-investment, high-reward endeavor.”
Though, I do not travel with Sullivan and Ellis for ease. I travel with them to invest in their personhood: their comfort to wonder, their sense of the scale of the world, and most importantly, their curiosity. Also, any time I see new parts of the world, I want them with me, for me. They are so much a part of my joy and wholeness, so I want them to experience what I do, as much as possible.
We recently traveled to Los Cabos, Mexico, our first international trip as a family. Soon, I will share our recommendations for places to stay, eat, and visit.
We partnered with STATE Bags for our trip, a company who gives to American families in need with the purchase of any bag. STATE donates fully-packed backpacks and provides travel opportunities for children in Brooklyn, New York and West Oakland, California. They also began a tutoring initiative in 2020 to support underfunded neighborhoods in New York City.
